This place is a jewel in many respects ... you might come as a stranger, but are treated as an old family friend - "my house is your house"... Coen and Catherine spent their entire time with us - both of them are deeply involved in the shoot - Catherine leading a beating line and picking up and Coen positioning the guns. The house is very comfortable - guests become part of the family ... Coen is a wine connoisseur and national wine judge ... Catherine organizes the most delicious meals (with the help of a great chef) !! The place and the countryside are beautiful ... it is such a treat to be able to walk to every drive ... Steven (the game keeper) beautifully uses the terrain to show birds for everyone ... fun partridges as well as great pheasants and ducks. We also had a day of driven boar at St. Michel which was a treat by itself. Beautiful land and scenery - the largest red deer stags I have ever seen ... The most memorable couple of days - thank you !!
I want you to know personally that of all the many places I have been in this beautiful world so far, Chateau de Villette is one of the top two places I have ever been. I truly did not want to leave and felt as if there was something there that was part of me, perhaps the 'old soul' I have been called. Anyway, your and Catherine's skills as host and hostess are unparalleled - and the food, the shooting, the 'team', the dogs, your wonderful children - all made for a very magical experience for all of us, but especially me I think. Truly, and sincerely, I tell you I will do anything I can to help you. Laurie and I are already counting the days to our return. If you are looking for somewhere in France where you are presented with marvellous birds, the most delicious food and wine, the most comfortable accommodation, and the best hosts, then look no further than Chateau de Villette. My wife and I shot there at the beginning of November, it being her second time, and my third time at this truly special place, and as before, we loved every moment of our weekend. From the moment one arrives, to the moment one sadly has to leave, one is made to feel totally at home, and the home 'team' could not be more friendly and welcoming. A marvellous experience that we both very much hope to be able to repeat.
This was our family's fourth time to come to Chateau de Villette. Every year the experience is better than the last. The gamekeeper and beaters have mastered their art to such an extent that every hunt has plentiful birds that flush at a perfectly shootable pace. We had eight hunts in two days, and every one was excellent. The food and wine are exquisite. Our last two meals (duck and pheasant) were among the two best meals I've ever eaten. The beds are luxurious after a long day of hunting with fine food, wine and cigars to end the day. Coen and Catherine are perfectly gifted hosts. I totally recommend this venue without qualification
This shoot weekend was arranged for 9 guns and their wives/partners and was an outstanding success from the moment of arrival to the minute of departure. The drives are all accessible by walking from the Chateau. The mixed quarry is unusual and the duck drives among the best I have experienced anywhere. The venue and hospitality are excellent with wonderful hosts and a superb team and Keeper to make anyone experiencing this very special shoot wishing to return in the future. This is an exceptional experience and without doubt the best game shooting in France.
Went with the team (9guns) and were treated to the most welcoming/hospitable setting of Chateau de Villlette. Coen and Catherine truly have opened their house to us and we were thoroughly treated to Chateau de Villette’s infamous Burgundy lifestyle. As well as the shoot itself, the food&beverage and ambiance were all exemplary and truly one-of-kind. I would like to thank Coen and Catherine wholeheartedly for making this trip into an unforgettable experience. A bientôt et merci beaucoup!
